Sunshine state, huge news…The Queensland government has announced a $500 eBike rebate on eBikes purchased after the 23rd of September 2024! And, we’re sweetening the deal for anyone who purchases a new Tern eBike from Lug+Carrie by offering an additional $500 of free cargo and passenger accessories!
After seeing similar schemes go gangbusters in Tassie and South Australia, we’re pumped to see the QLD Government getting even more behind active travel. The fund for the initiative is capped at $1 million – only enough for 2000 eBikes – so we recommend getting in quick! So, whether you’re doing the school drop-off or commuting to work, now’s the time to find the perfect ride to suit your lifestyle!
Queensland eBike rebate – the details
The rebate is available for new eBikes purchased:
- After 23rd of September 2024 (can’t be retrospective)
- By individuals (not sole traders or businesses)
- By Queensland residents 18 years or over
- From an eligible retailer in Queensland with an ABN, like Lug+Carrie
EBikes must also comply with the QLD definition of an eBike. All Tern and Riese & Muller eBikes from Lug+Carrie meet the requirements so you don’t need to worry about that!
Bicycle Queensland Marketing Director, Mike Blewitt, says “After almost two years of advocating with the department of Transport and Main Roads on this issue, we’re very excited that the Queensland Government have updated their Zero Emission Vehicle Strategy, introducing the rebate for e-mobility devices: e-bikes and e-scooters.”
“The Zero Emission Vehicle Strategy has provided rebates for electric cars, which, whilst helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, do little to reduce traffic congestion on Queensland’s roads. Bicycle Queensland welcomes the inclusion of these modes into the policy.”
